ChinaSatcomsigneda new satellite transponder contract with CCTV movie channel, as the company will provide the satellite transmission service for three new channels: the high definition movie channel, the animation channel, and the family theater channel. This is the second important cooperation between CCTV and China Satcom after the satellite transponder contract signed last year. Also, China Satcom is progressing nicely in the project between the company and Shanghai Media Group, where China Satcom will provide the satellite channel transmission for Shanghai Media Group’s premium digital channel and the Xinjiang “going out” project.
Newachievementsinthe building of digital clustering emergency coordination and management communication
Bytheendof October 2006, China Satcom’s digital clustering system has achieved coverage in basically the entire metropolitan and suburban area in Tianjin, Jinan, and Nanjing and in Shanghai the company has achieved coverage in Chongming Island and Qunshan. Urbanemergencyresponsesystem is a new development project promoted by the ministry of information industry; it satisfies the demand for emergency response due to the development of Chinese society and helps to build and manage the modernization effort of China cities. It is beneficial to the integration of information and communication resources and enhances a city’s ability to respond quickly. Cooperating with other organizations, China Satcom bears the responsibility to build the trial project “urban emergency response and social comprehensive service system” for the ministry of information industry, as so far the company has made great progresses. On April 20th 2006, the first stage trial run for “Weifang urban emergency response and social comprehensive service system” was initiated, which is a demonstrative project built by China Satcom. The head of the project, for the specific need of Weifang city in regard to areas such as the public safety of the city government, public management, and public service functions. The system integrated satellite communication, digital clustering communication, satellite navigation, electronic maps, other network and operational resources that are unique to China Satcom. The system is advantageous in many ways, including in areas such as logistics distribution, logistics concentration, combining peacetime needs with wartime needs, emergency response, overall integration, response operation. It is safe, reliable and efficient. The system designs covers 30 departments, including government public safety, public management and public service. If the citizens need to contact the police, they could do so by calling the number of the traffic police, police and fire safety. Such call will trigger all of the departments involved, who, by providing services and assistance, will efficiently guarantee the life, property, and safety of the citizens. The emergency response and social comprehensive service system of Weifang combined many unique resources to China Satcom. By using digital group communication as its platform, it realize a uniform coordination to the city’s emergency response system. Connected by emergency response application system, it realize the efficient distribution of administrative management resources. With digital group沙疗, satellite navigation, geographic information service and other functions provided by satellite communication, it achieved mobile emergency communication transmission on wheels.
